Neon Waltz are playing a gig in Wick on December 21.

LOCAL Neon Waltz fans are set for a festive treat as the band prepare for their biggest home-town gig to date.

Having played shows with Noel Gallagher, Razorlight and DMA's the boys make their much-anticipated return to Wick with a gig in the Assembly Rooms on Saturday, December 21.

And as an early Christmas present, the John O'Groat Journal, in conjunction with promoter Ryan Cook, has a pair of tickets to give away.

Formed in early 2013, the band released their debut album Strange Hymns four years later, having built up a solid and diverse fan base. They have had a busy few years touring the length and breadth of the country.

They took the summer away from the limelight to write some new material and are about to announce new music plans in the lead-up to their December tour, which starts in Dunfermline on the 5th and then winds through the UK to take in London, Liverpool and Cardiff, among others. They land up in Glasgow on the 18th before heading home for their long-awaited show on home ground.

Support acts for the gig, which begins at 8pm with doors open at 7.30pm, are up-and-coming local bands Open Plan and Forgetting the Future.

The show on December 21 will make for a great night.

Mr Cook is looking forward to the event. He said: "We have been trying to get a show in place for some time now but with Neon Waltz's hectic schedule and other logistical issues it took us a bit longer than expected.

"But the show on December 21 will make for a great night and hopefully all of the students and folk who live away will be home for the Christmas holidays."

Tickets for the Wick show are available online only from www.seetickets.com. They go on sale at 6pm on Sunday, October 27.

To be in with a chance of winning a pair of tickets, email the answer to the following question to editor@nosn.co.uk with the words "Neon Waltz competition" in the subject line. Please include your full name and postal address. Entries must be received by noon on Friday, November 8.
