Will’s 1200-mile hike to John O’Groats in memory of best friend Henry
A 22-year-old charity walker is making his way from Land’s End to John O’Groats in memory of his best friend.
Will Riches set off on May 19 and hopes to finish the end-to-end challenge around June 25.
He is calling the journey Hike for Henry and is tackling it in a series of 45 to 55-hour legs, with each section split up by roughly one day of rest and recovery. He has a support vehicle as backup.
Will, from Norfolk, is raising money for the Teenage Cancer Trust and more than £3200 has been donated so far on his GoFundMe page.
Henry’s sister, Liv Hill (23), explained: “Hike for Henry was set up by Will in memory of my younger brother, who passed away at 18 from cancer in 2022.
“Hen and Will were inseparable best friends and always did crazy things together, so Will is carrying that on by completing this challenge in Henry’s memory.

“The route totals 1200 miles and he is walking all of this on his own. Will is the most motivated person I have ever met, so I have no doubt that he will complete it.
“Hen was not only my younger brother but also my best friend, my biggest supporter and the most kind and funny person. He has left a massive hole in our lives and we miss him every minute of every day.”
