WICK’S Hogmanay street party is on song to make a comeback, it has emerged.

A new committee has been established to bring the event back to the town.

Event co-ordinator Alan Farquhar said plans are progressing well to reintroduce the annual celebration after it was cancelled last year due to a lack of volunteers.

Three volunteers have come forward and the next plan of action is to get more helpers to offer their services on New Year’s Eve.

Mr Farquhar was encouraged by the response he has had so far and is now calling for local residents to help bring the community back together to see in the New Year.

"We are inviting members of the public who are interested in being involved to meet us at the next Royal Burgh of Wick Community Council meeting in April," he said.

"We hope to get some funding from the community council and from local businesses who may wish to make a donation to pay for a band to perform on the night."

The meeting will take place at the Assembly Rooms in Wick on Monday, April 2.
