A FEMALE entrepreneur has been recognised for her business acumen after coming second at an awards ceremony in Inverness.
Jennifer Easton (25), from Wick, finished runner-up in the 2011 Prince’s Scottish Business Trust Highland Young Entrepreneur of the Year Awards.
Miss Easton runs fashion company JAED, which is based in Wick’s High Street.
The business was set up in April last year and originally operated from Ms Easton’s parents’ house offering design and alteration services for special occasions.
She moved to her own premises in the town centre six months later.
The store sells Miss Easton’s own garments as well as hand-made jewellery and bags.
Alterations and remodelling are still a major part of the business and referrals by local bridalwear shops and kilt suppliers have seen her customer base expand even further.
Chief executive of Highland Opportunity Ltd Marie Mackintosh presented Miss Easton with a £500 cash prize and runners-up certificate.
Jacqui Douglas (22), from Alness, who runs Glamorous Hairdressing Salon. was named as the 2011 Young Entrepreneur of the Year.
