A Wick woman is facing a charge of serious assault.

Lianna Gunn pleaded not guilty at Wick Sheriff Court, on Wednesday, and will stand trial in December.

The charge alleges that the 33-year-old repeatedly struck her former partner, David Macgregor, with a knife, struggled with him, repeatedly punched him, and hit him with a poker, all to his injury and permanent impairment.

The incidents are said to have occurred at Gunn's former home in Osbourne Close, Wick, on December 5.

Gunn has entered a special defence of self-defence. She is scheduled to stand trial on December 14.
