The Wick Tesco store is back open following temporary closure on Friday due to damage caused when Storm Arwen swept in.

Business is now back to normal at the local supermarket after it reopened yesterday morning. A spokesperson confirmed that the store closed due to hazardous weather conditions.

During the high winds on Friday the railings on the roof of the building came loose and could be seen on the ground at the front of the store. The store announced its temporary closure for the safety of customers shortly after at 3.30pm on its Facebook page, Our Community – Wick.

In an update on Saturday they stated that the damage caused by the storm meant that they needed contractors in to carry out repairs, with customers offered click and collect time slots on Sunday.

Lidls in Thurso was also affected by the storm with the advertising board outside the store blown down.
