A call has gone out for budding performers and backstage helpers who would like to be part of Wick Players' first pantomime since before the pandemic.

The amateur drama club will be staging The Snow Queen, by Alan P Frayn, at the Assembly Rooms from December 6-9.

A script reading is scheduled for Tuesday, August 29, at the Moray Street Drama Centre, starting at 7pm. It is open to adults and children aged 12 or over.

The Snow Queen will be directed by Jenny Szyfelbain.

"It's what the Wickers want at Christmas – they want entertainment, and a panto never fails to entertain," Mrs Szyfelbain said.

"It's got a little bit of everything. It's got nonsense, it's got music, and we have a new musical director, John MacBeath, which I'm delighted with.

"John has never done anything like this before but he sounds very enthusiastic.

"I'm looking for anybody that has got skills of any kind. If they want to be backstage, wardrobe, make-up... anything at all, if they think they have something to offer.

"We have 21 main parts, and for those who don't get parts I generally encourage them to go into the chorus. If they haven't done panto before, it gives them a good grounding in it.

"I want folk to come along because they want to enjoy themselves and be part of a good team."

Wick Players can be contacted by email at info@wickplayers.com

There will be three evening performances of The Snow Queen, followed by a matinée on the Saturday.

The last Wick panto was Aladdin, in December 2019.
