Wick Players set for drama competition youth finals

Caithness will be represented at the youth final of the Scottish Community Drama Association (SCDA) Festival of One-Act Plays this year.

The junior team from the Wick Players secured their place when they took part at the Highland Divisional finals at the Spectrum Centre in Inverness.

The cast, including Lucy Thain, Anya Hetherington, Frankie Thurling, Jasmine Dunnett, Olivia Sutherland and Lily Sutherland, performed A Dog’s Life, which was set in an animal shetler and written by Pam Valentine and directed by Frances Yellop.

They will now compete in the Scottish Youth Final which is due to take place on Saturday, June 8 at the Reconnect Regal Theatre in Bathgate.

The senior team from Wick Players took part in the Highland Divisional Open Final in Plockton High School but did not get through to the next round.

They performed After the Flags and Bands, written by Allan Williams and directed by Jayden Alexander, about the experiences of four women during World War I. Cast members were Clare Sturrock-Center, Gina Alexander, Kirstin Gunn and Carys Miller.

No teams from Thurso took part this year.
