Wick pair deny armed assault on teenager

Two Wick men are alleged to have carried out a serious armed assault in a local street.

Graham Bain (32), of Kinnaird Street, and 19-year-old David Anderson from Macrae Street, both Wick, pleaded not guilty at Wick Sheriff Court on Wednesday.

The indictment accuses them, while acting with others, of striking a 17-year-old – described as now deceased – on the head with an unknown weapon, causing him to fall to the ground and then repeatedly striking him with a knife or similar implement to his severe injury and permanent disfigurement and danger to his life.

The incident is said to have taken place in Macrae Street, Wick, on August 20, last year.

The trial will be heard before a jury at Inverness Sheriff Court once preparations have been completed. A joint minute of agreed evidence is currently in draft form.
