A Caithness optician is setting is sights on a national accolade.

Ian Morris, optometry director at Specsavers in Bridge Street, Wick, is nominated in the Optometrist of the Year category at the Eyecare Awards.

The ceremony takes place at Glasgow’s Hilton Hotel on Sunday.

Mr Morris has worked with Specsavers for 20 years, beginning his career in Inverurie before moving on to work at branches in Montrose, Arbroath and Dundee. He has been optometry director at the Wick store for eight years.

He is also fully qualified to help patients with glaucoma, having completed his NED Glaucoma Training certification.

The Eyecare Optometrist of the Year award recognises those who go the extra mile for their patients and show outstanding representation of the optometrist profession.

Mr Morris said: "It is an honour to be shortlisted for this award. Caring for our customers is at the heart of what we do at Specsavers.

"Winning the award would be amazing but even being shortlisted in the top five is simply fantastic."
