A WICK man who marched into the home of his ex-partner uninvited and argued with her in her bedroom has been ordered to carry out 90 hours of unpaid work.

Rumel Khan was also made subject to a six-month non-harassment order at Wick Sheriff Court last week, banning him from having any contact with his ex.

Khan (36), admitted having behaved in a threatening or abusive manner toward her between May 1 and 31 last year. The couple had split up in March 2022 after a four-year relationship.

David Barclay said that Khan, of Moray Street, Wick, wanted to ask his former partner about her new relationship.

The fiscal added, however, that he got the impression that Khan's "real motive" was his concern for the well-being of their children but the way he had gone about it, was "completely wrong".

Mr Barclay added: "The accused turning up at the house and refusing to leave would have caused [his ex] some concern."

Megan Anderson confirmed that Khan's concern was for their children .

Referring to a background report, the solicitor agreed that Khan had initially, tried to minimise his conduct but had subsequently "held up his hands" and had accepted responsibility for it.

She added that the accused had struggled with the ending of his relationship with his former partner but that was no excuse for his conduct.

Sheriff Ian Miller said it was clear from the background report that Khan resented his ex having a new relationship. The sheriff said that Khan took the view "she is mine and should not have another relationship".

The sheriff told the accused: "Entering someone's house and going into their bedroom, has to be treated as a very serious breach of the law."
