A 31-year-old Wick man appeared in private at Inverness Sheriff Court today on a charge of assault to danger of life.

It was expected that four people would appear but only Graham Bain came before Sheriff Gary Aitken.

He made no plea, was committed for further examination and released on bail.

It follows an incident in Macrae Street, Wick, on Thursday night which led to a section of the street being cordoned off by police barrier tape as enquiries were carried out.
