The Royal Burgh of Wick Community Council's popular indoor markets are to resume in the town centre in the run-up to Christmas.
The first market will be this Saturday (November 23) and then on December 7, 14 and 21. The venue is the foyer of Caithness House, the Highland Council building in Market Square, as it was for the month-long trial run in September.
The markets will be open from 10am to 3pm each day.
There will be no indoor market on November 30 because there will be outdoor stalls in conjunction with Wick Fun Day and the switch-on of the Christmas lights.
Community council secretary John Bogle said: "The trial markets in September proved to be very popular with both stallholders and customers and became quite a social event in the town. We held a meeting of stallholders afterwards and they were keen to see the markets continue. The community council therefore organised this series of markets in the run-up to Christmas and then Wick Market Traders will take over the running of the markets in future.
"The first market will feature some old favourites such as Caithness Summer Fruits selling preserves and home baking and Puffin Croft selling fresh fruit and veg, local eggs, cakes and pies. There will also be stalls offering wool, crafts, candles, prints, jewellery, knitwear, artwork, hand-knitted soft toys, bath bombs, soap, berets, scarves, bags, footstools, women’s clothes and shoes, tweed items, custom-printed gifts, tweed items, home baking and sweets. Later markets will feature some newcomers including Caithness Smokehouse and Jumping Goats Dairy."
