Wick hotel to light up to raise awareness of debilitating condition

A CAITHNESS business is taking part in an initiative to help highlight a debilitating condition that affects over five per cent of Scotland.

Mackays Hotel in Wick will have a purple glow as part of the campaign to raise awareness of fibromyalgia - a problem which impacts the central nervous system and can result in chronic pain, fatigue, as well as physical and mental health issues. It can be exacerbated by anxiety and stress.

Mackay's, along with 36 other establishments and landmarks across Scotland will be taking part in the campaign to mark Fibromyalgia Awareness Week which got underway on Monday and runs until Sunday. International Fibromyalgia Day is today (Wednesday).

Also participating will be the Kelpies in Falkirk, the Wallace Monument, Stirling; Perth Concert Hall, the Discovery ship and building in Dundee, the Kings Theatre and Festival Theatre EdinbuOur Biggest Campaign So far, raising awareness of fibromyalgia across Scotland.

The condition affects up to 300,000 people in Scotland.
