Wick High School pupils’ funding boost for Caithness RDA
A funding award from Wick High School pupils will help towards running costs and equipment for the Caithness group of the Riding for the Disabled Association – as well as paying for a new trophy.
A cheque for £500 was handed over by the school’s S2 Youth and Philanthropy Initiative (YPI) winners for 2025. YPI is an active citizenship programme that enables young people to make a difference in their communities while developing a range of skills.
Pupils prepare a presentation as they compete for funding to give to their chosen local charity.
Members of the winning S2 team from Wick were Kara Howden, Bethany Seddon, Kloe Smith and Erna Thain.
Liz Hewitson, secretary of the Caithness RDA group, said: “We were delighted the girls chose the Riding for the Disabled Association as their charity for the YPI.

“They had a visit to a session, gathered information and took photos for their presentation, and we were delighted they won. The girls were a credit to their school.
“The money will be used for running costs and new equipment and also a trophy for the group called Wick High School 2025 YPI.”
