WICK High School is again pushing to boost the skills of its pupils in the area of cyber security.

For the third year in a row, pupils who were part of the S3 computing science course have achieved a SQA Level 4 Award in Cyber Security. The pupils had spent a term learning about aspects of the subject in Kirsty Orr's and Chris Aitken’s classes.

Over the course of a term the 32 computing science pupils have been learning skills such as how to secure a network and identify threats to businesses and individuals.

During the unit pupils have to complete a series of practical tasks to secure a device on the school's "dummy network" and passing a test on security threats.

"I am sure they have gained a lot of confidence and experience taking part in this course and I hope they are now more aware of the threats they are potentially facing in our ever-connected world”.
