Wick High robot designers meet university challenge
WICK High School pupils met the “university challenge” and came out with honours after being named winners of a computing science competition.
S3 pupilstook first prize in the Robert Gordon University pupil project prize with Quancobot, a mobile robot which can be driven onto the field of play during rugby conversions and stream a perfect view of the conversion as a live video back to audience’s mobile devices.
The competition was organised by the university’s school of computing science and digital media and challenged high school pupils to submit a video and description of any individual project related to computing science, cyber security or digital media.
Wick High School computing science teacher Chris Aitken said: “I am absolutely delighted at the recognition that Maja and Erin have received with their Quancobot Raspberry Pi robot.
“They worked hard for over a year and really pushed themselves to learn not only advanced programming concepts but also electronics.”
