A long-serving firefighter has retired from Wick Community Fire Station. William Gunn, a local businessman, spent 24 years at the station as a retained crew member.

He was given a replica fire helmet on a base engraved with his years of service and his three medal ribbons, for long service, the Queens Diamond Jubilee and the Queens Platinum Jubilee.

His first call out when he joined the service was to a heath fire and his final "shout" was to a chimney fire in Lybster, in March.
