Wick's Pulteneytown People's Project (PPP) outlined some of the extra services it will be delivering this year for families with children.

Jennifer Harvey, PPP development officer, forwarded information about the Stay and Play initiative which will be held in the main hall of the Pulteney Centre in Huddart Street where the community centre is based.

"The childcare department also gained a good report from last inspection and we are widening the childcare services," said Jennifer.

Assistant childcare manager at the centre, Chloe Cormack, said: "We asked the community what they were missing and it was clear there wasn’t much on at weekends for babies and toddlers in the town.

"We will be re-opening our bouncy castles on a Saturday from 12-3pm for parents/carers to catch up while their child is burning off some energy. We will also have a tuck shop available from our main reception."

Chloe also outlined the 'stay and play' sessions that will take place on Saturdays and are designed for children up to five-years-old.

"We will have different age and stage stations for children and parents to enjoy.

"Our childcare team will also be there sharing information on: easy play at home; learning through play; and quick recipes for parents/carers to take home if they wish. It will be a relaxed atmosphere but also a chance for any parents/carers to ask any questions on anything regarding childcare that we can help with. We will also have our leaflets available for playgroup, nursery, after school and breakfast club."
