Wick boat rescued after losing power at Stroma

A FISHING boat has been rescued after it lost power while working in the Pentland Firth.

Wick Lifeboat station received a distress call at 2.50pm when the Wick registered Sardonyx reported power failure just off the coast of Stroma.

Longhope Lifeboat Station were then called out to the scene at 2.59pm when they discovered the boat's location.

RNLI staff then tugged the boat to safety at Scrabster harbour.

Coxswain Ian Cormack said that the two men aboard the ship were unharmed.

"We were originally paged about the emergency, but when we discovered the boat's location, crew members from Longhope attended the situation instead," he said.
