Wick-based North Apex Gymnastics Club celebrates with haul of medals and ribbons

Last month saw Wick-based gymnastics club members attend their first competitions of 2024 and achieve great success.

On March 17, there were 23 gymnasts from North Apex Gymnastics Club’s (NAGC) competition squad that took part at Fyrish Gymnastics Club’s floor and vault competition in Alness. With medals and ribbons awarded up to sixth place, the gymnasts came home with a haul.

Results:

• 6/7 Beginners: Mia Sutherland 5th Floor, 4th Vault, 3rd Overall. Team Bronze for Daisy Murray, Jodie Sinclair, Josselin Sutherland, Mia Sutherland and Paisley MacDonald.

• 10/11 Beginners: Nola Ross 1st Floor. Summer Hanrahan 3rd Vault. Team Bronze for Hallie Taylor, Laura Polson, Nola Ross, Rosie Miller and Summer Hanrahan.

• 12/13 Beginners: Eva Simpson 2nd Floor, 3rd Overall. Hollie Macmillan 3rd Floor, 4th Overall. Team Silver for Eva Simpson, Hollie Macmillan and Sarah Sinclair.

• 8/9 Intermediate: Tessa Simpson 2nd Floor, 2nd Vault, 2nd Overall.

• 10/11 Intermediate: Ella Simpson 3rd Vault, 3rd Overall.

The following weekend saw a select number of gymnasts travel to Aberdeen to compete at the North District competition. Tessa Simpson, Ella Simpson, Eva Simpson, Hollie Macmillan, Sarah Sinclair and Rylee Harper represented North Apex Gymnastics Club at this competition which had over 240 gymnasts attending from clubs all over the Highlands, Islands and Grampian.

Results:

• 12/13 Beginners: Sarah Sinclair 1st Floor. Eva Simpson 5th Floor.

• 14+ Beginners: Rylee Harper 2nd Floor, 4th Vault, 4th Overall.

A NAGC spokesperson said: “This was a brilliant experience for the gymnasts and they were delighted to return home with medals, ribbons and some very high scores – a testament to their hard work and dedication in the gym.”
