ONE of the most promising Scottish bands of the year is heading to Wick this weekend.

Rising stars GoGoBot are playing the Monster Music Tent at 7.35pm tomorrow night at Wick’s very own summer music festival – B-fest.

The three-piece burst onto the nation’s music scene last year with a strident mix of synth anthems, a pounding rock base and infectious pop melodies, and have since proven themselves refreshingly difficult to pigeon hole.

Bassist Rosie McClune (29) said she can’t wait to come to Wick for the first time.

“We’re really looking forward to it and there are a lot of good bands that we know that are playing as well, like GUN,” she said.

“Festivals are brilliant fun, they are always exciting. It should be a great day.”

Making up the rest of the band is drummer Gordon McNeil, who used to play with B-fest headliners GUN, and lead vocalist and guitarist Marko Kelly.

With a vast array of influences such as Scissor Sisters, Sparks, Muse, Bjork, Queen and Rush, the band produces a sound unmistakably its own.

The musicians recently played in front of around 15,000 people when they supported chart-topping band JLS and Olly Murs at the Royal Highland Centre in Edinburgh on July 1 and were showcased as some of the next best UK talent on the BBC Introducing Stage at T in the Park.

“This is our way of saying hello to everyone and getting our music out there,” said Rosie.

“We’re on stage just after 7pm so it would just be great if people came to see us.”
