What’s in a name?

THE chairman of a far north group which observes health and social care developments said that its name doesn’t tell the public anything about what it stands for.

Colin Punler blasted the title of the Caithness District Partnership as ‘establishment jargon’ saying it gave no indication of the actual purpose of the group.

He made his views known during the group second meeting since it was formed last summer at the Pulteneytown Community Centre on Friday.

The partnership, which is made up of representatives from NHS Highland and Highland Council as well as voluntary and independent providers and community representatives, aims to deliver solutions for people in the far north within the health and social care framework.

But Mr Punler blasted how it was ever going to make a difference if the even the name of the group did not make clear what it stood for.

The name of the group does not clearly indicate with the public what the group is or does,” he said.

It was agreed to look into changing the name of the group to Caithness District Health and Social Care Partnership for its next meeting in January.
