The Laurandy Centre's plans to create a wellbeing garden were boosted earlier this year by a £3000 funding award secured by Wick High School pupils. The money came through the Youth and Philanthropy Initiative (YPI), an active citizenship programme that enables young people to make a difference in their communities while developing a range of skills. Plans to transform an unused area of ground into a sensory wellbeing garden have been revealed.

The Laurandy Centre in Wick wants to create the garden for its service users. The charity caters for older adults' day care needs.

In the plans, submitted to Highland Council and now under consideration, a boundary fence would surround the area for privacy and security.

Paths, flower beds and raised planters would be created and a summer house could be incorporated alongside covered seating areas.
