WEATHER UPDATE: Yellow warnings for 'continuing ice risk' remain in place across north Highlands today

Yellow weather warnings for snow and ice remain in place across most of the north-east and north Highlands today, with a change to less cold conditions expected later in the day.
The Met Office have warned that wintry showers and snow on hills, as well as falling on frozen surfaces could lead to further disruption to transport and infrastructure.
The warning, which was issued at 5pm on Sunday, December 3, is expected to remain in place until at least midday today.

Speaking yesterday, Met Office chief meteorologist, Jason Kelly, said: "The first Atlantic airmass for a while is making some inroads across southern and central parts of the country bringing less cold conditions to many southern areas, whilst cold airmass continues to hold on in the north.
"Where these two airmasses meet is the focus for continuing ice risk. For parts of north-east Scotland, wintry showers will bring some icy conditions overnight, as well as some accumulating snow inland. Warnings may well be updated over the coming days so keep up to date with the forecast in your area."
