SEVERE winter weather conditions are expected to hit what is considered the toughest classic car rally in Europe.

Le Jog looks set to face a severe temperature drop before the event, which will take 69 crews on an epic 1500 mile route between Land’s End and John O’Groats, starts tomorrow (December 7).

The four day event is organised by the Historic Endurance Rallying Organisation (HERO), and it will see a number innovations to enable novice crews to complete more sections of the route, including a ‘panic envelope’ to help them through the night section in Wales.

Peter Nedin, HERO’s event director, said: “With a couple of days to go anticipation is building and crews are preparing themselves for a challenging adventure. Typical Le Jog weather is expected, but it’s clear the competitors are eager to face the challenge.”

Le Jog is the sixth and last qualifying round of the 2013 HERO Cup, in association with EFG International. The club’s annual championship sees crews participating in a number of events organised by HERO and the CRA, competing to win a week on board a classic yacht sailing around the Mediterranean.
