We object to proposed Dunbar changes
SIR – We write to object to the proposed changes at Dunbar Hospital.
Owing to ill health we both had to spend some time in Dunbar and were impressed by the first-rate medical treatment and the dedicated care of the staff there.
The benefits of retaining palliative care beds, and the 24-hour accident-and-emergency service for patients and visitors in the west of Caithness must outweigh any advantages in the proposed changes.
We would like to thank the community and local councillors, the organisers of the petition and others who are fighting to resist what would surely be the beginning of a "creeping closure" policy.
We would also take this opportunity to express our belated, but sincere gratitude to the Dunbar staff for their kindness and care during our stay.
