Watten man given chance to behave after fight on doorstep

A 37-year-old Caithness man went to confront his mother's ex-partner about "events in the past" and ended up in a fight with him.

Christopher Munro, of Bain Place, Watten, admitted threatening behaviour and engaging in a fight with Christopher Burnside in Townlands Place, Cromarty on July 7, 2021.

At Inverness Sheriff Court on Thursday, Sheriff Gary Aitken deferred sentence until October 27 for Munro's good behaviour and social work involvement after hearing from defence solicitor advocate Mike Chapman.

Mr Burnside was watching TV when he heard a knock at the door and recognised the son of his former wife, fiscal depute Karen Poke said.

"There was a disagreement and Munro was asked to leave. The two began a fight at the front door, and grappled with each other before Munro left," Ms Poke went on.

Mr Chapman told the court: "This was an edifying episode. My client went to confront Mr Burnside about what happened between them in the past."
