Village volunteers beavered away over Sunday to make Watten a brighter and tidier place.

Facebook group Watten Helps Out (WHO) organised the event which saw yellow-jacketed volunteers come out in numbers throughout the morning as part of the Scottish Spring Clean Litter Pick organised by Keep Scotland Beautiful.

A group spokesperson said on Sunday afternoon: “Watten Helps Out would like to thank our volunteers that turned out this morning for the Scottish Spring Clean Litter Pick. A tremendous effort was put in, and 40 bags of litter, including a lorry mirror, were collected.

“A true community spirit.”

WHO sent out thanks to Allan Bruce from the Royal Burgh of Wick Community Council for the loan of equipment from Wick Paths Group.
