Our Primary School Pupil of the Year, Kornelia Porozynska, was described in her nomination by Tain YMCA as "probably the most enthusiastic volunteer we have ever had!"

Rich praise indeed for a 12-year-old who has helped at Lunch Club, Toddlers Group and Friday Fun Sessions.

The group praised the "amazing young lady" for also volunteering over the Easter, Summer and October holidays.

Warm-hearted Kornelia herself took time to emphasise her gratitude to one very close friend who has been with her through good times and bad.

In the process, she completed a Dynamic Youth Award to become the youth group's youngest ever recipient of the qualification. And if that's not enough, she has also completed not one, but two, Hi 5 Awards!

Her nomination made clear: "Kornelia is an absolute pleasure to have here in the Youth Cafe – not only does she make friends with everyone she comes into contact with but she has the ability to make everyone smile.

"The world would definitely benefit from having more Little Miss Kornelias in it and we all feel that Tain YMCA benefits from having this little ray of sunshine here helping us."

She was awarded Tain YMCA's Young Volunteer of the Year 2022. She is in P7 at Knockbreck Primary School.

Her mum Barbara described her as "very compassionate girl", adding: "I'm very proud of who she is and who she is becoming."

The award was sponsored by Graintek.
