The Highlands is in the process of learning who their new councillors are going to be with the first two wards already declared.

To give candidates in wards furthest from Inverness time to reach the count, declarations started with city first.

It will then move outwards to nearby areas before going to the far Sutherland, Caithness and other areas like Fort William and Ardnamurchan.

So far the results are as follows:

Inverness Ness-side – Ward 15

Alasdair Christie, Scottish Liberal Democrat – 1046

Jackie Hendry, Scottish National Party (SNP) – 1276

Andrew Mackintosh, Scottish Labour Party – 276 (quota reached on round seven)

Inverness West – Ward 13

Bill Boyd, Scottish National Party (SNP) – 1092

Alex Graham, Liberal Democrat – 1198

Ryan Mackintosh, Scottish Greens – 267 (quota reached on round nine)
