A local initiative to keep the town's riverside free from rubbish is looking for helping hands to join them at the start of the new year.

Wick Riverside Volunteers will be doing a litter pick on the 2nd of January starting at the fountain area at 11am (weather permitting) and working around the riverside.

A group spokesperson said: "The council are kindly providing us with a bin to take everything away. We have some equipment that we can supply and everyone of all ages is welcome. It’s a great way to start the new year and to help keep the riverside a beautiful place."
