Voids are found in Wick's South Road
MINOR subsidence is being investigated on one of the busiest roads in Wick.
Scotland TranServ has given an update after a large hole, which appeared during resurfacing work on South Road last week, halted progress.
A spokesman said evidence of "voids" had been discovered.
On Wednesday the John O’Groat Journal was told the "voids" are evidence of minor subsidence and an investigation into their cause is ongoing.
"The situation is being monitored and reviewed," said the spokesman.
"A solution will be undertaken when the cause of this issue is fully assessed and the appropriate measures identified.
"Scotland TranServ is committed to undertaking this work as soon as possible with minimal disruption to the road users."
Some local residents claim a water channel that runs the length of the road taking surface water to Wick River has collapsed and the £250,000 resurfacing work is a waste of money.
The road remains open under temporary traffic light control.
