Viva Scrabster! Increase in Spanish boats landing catches at Caithness port





SPANISH fishing boats landing catches at Scrabster have almost doubled in the past year thanks to an upturn in the Spanish economy.

Scrabster Harbour Trust reports that 140 vessels from Spain have arrived at the far north port this year compared to 87 during 2015.

A number of vessels decommissioned by UK fishermen have been snapped up by Spanish interests and they have been operating off the east and north coasts of Scotland where they have landed their catches.
