Sandy Mackay, the ploughing match convener, said: “The charity this year is for Caithness befriending. There will be an auction at around 4pm with a prize giving. There are loads of prizes from all sorts of local produce to dinners in hotels here. ”

Sandy said that a 1929 International will be the oldest tractor on the day. "There will be Masseys, Fords, John Deeres and others to see. It's a great event and enjoyable for all."

The idea is to create uniform furrows with a good seed bed in plot sizes of approximately 20m by 80m. There are two judges with competitors coming from as far as the Black Isle. The different classes include trailing class; vintage mounted up to and including 1965; and classic mounted 1965 to 1980.
