A popular agricultural event returns to the county on Saturday (October 8) and will be held at Stirkoke Mains farm.

There will be a honesty box at the entrance for the suggested entry fee of £3. Sandy Mackay, ploughing match convenor, said: "Presentation of prizes will be at approximately 4.30pm. All are welcome to come."

The event is held at the kind permission of Innes family. Refreshments will be available and there will be a raffle. "We look forward to seeing everyone there this Saturday whether you're ploughing or spectating," added Sandy.

Sandy pointed out that the Scottish National Ploughing Championships will be held in Caithness this year at Stanstill Farm in the Bower area on October 22/23.
