Vintage and classic tractors will be making their way around some of the byways of Caithness this weekend.

The two-day charity road run is being organised by Caithness Vintage Tractor and Machinery Club, confined to members, with the main event taking place on Saturday.

It will follow a meandering 60-mile route from Westerseat, outside Wick, and will end up in Thurso, with donations being accepted along the way.

Some enthusiasts from Orkney will be joining their Caithness counterparts.

Charities to benefit from the run will be chosen at the club's annual general meeting in February, with the money staying in the local area.

Club secretary Liz Hewitson said: "Members are very proud of their tractors and it would be great to see folk out around the route supporting our charity road run on Saturday."

Those taking part will leave Westerseat at 10.30am on Saturday. They will turn onto the Sibster road at Lochshell, then pass Sibster Mains, Winless Mains, Watten Mains and Watten cemetery.

There will be a farm visit to Lynegar, leaving at around 12.30pm. The tractors will then pass Allan’s of Gillock and take a left towards Bower quarry before turning left onto the main road then left again to HRN Tractors for lunch.

After proceeding a short distance along the main road the route goes up Dunn brae, past Lanergill and towards Mybster Inn, going straight across at the crossroads towards Westerdale.

The tractors will then go past Braehour and on to the crossroads at Calder. After passing Mid Calder and going along Loch Calder, they will go to Achiebeg, Shebster and Achreamie before turning right towards Forss House Hotel.

After Lythmore they will visit WKD Logs at Westfield Farm, arriving at about 4pm. Free tea and coffee will be available and there will be a charity box.

The drivers will then make their way into Thurso, arriving at Premier Inn at around 5.30pm with dinner later at the Station Hotel.

Sunday's run will be shorter, at around 36 miles. Activities will include a visit to Halkirk Heritage and Vintage Motor Centre and lunch at West Greenland.
