VIDEO - Britannia rules the Pentland waves as onlookers flock to Dunnet Head
THE UK's biggest cruise liner sailed through the Pentland Firth as almost 200 people drove to Dunnet Head to catch a glimpse of Britannia.
The luxury vessel was on a lap of honour around the British Isles as part of its celebrations of all things British coloured in its Union flag livery.
The ship travelled past the north Caithness coast through Muckle Skerry and Stroma on Friday night.
But Dunnet Head was where most people went to see Britannia rule the Pentland waves as the car park was packed with excited visitors with their cameras to catch an image of the prestigous liner.
Britannia was launched by The Queen in March and the 143,730-ton luxury ship is the largest in the P&O fleet. It has 15 decks and carries 3600 passengers and 1400 officers and crew.

On board, it has the largest British spa at sea, a state-of-the-art theatre with LED wall, four pools, gym and a multi-million-pound art collection including a specially commissioned representation of the “Spirit of Modern Britain” from artist Johnny Bull.
