A drop in the number of primary schools in Wick from four to two is being proposed by the Highland Council.

The plan, which is to go out to consultation, involves amalgamating Hillhead and North in a new school on the site of the existing North Primary and amalgamating Pulteneytown Academy and South in a new school to be incorporated within the campus on the Wick High School site.

The consultation runs from Monday, August 15, until Friday, September 23. Public meetings will be held in the Assembly Rooms in Wick at 7pm on September 6 regarding the Hillhead/North proposal, and the Assembly Rooms at 7pm on September 13 in relation to Pulteneytown Academy and South.

To comment on the proposals either e-mail ecsadmin@highland.gov.uk or write to: Ron MacKenzie, head of support services, education, culture and sport, the Highland Council, Glenurquhart Road, Inverness IV3 5NX.

All comments received will be summarised and made available to councillors who will consider the consultation report at the education, culture and sport committee on September 9.
