Following his spoon-playing success on social media over the past few weeks, local AI cattle breeding technician Willie Mackay has taken his tunes on tour.

The response to his rousing renditions of Scottish compilations has been so overwhelming that he decided to take the spoons with him on his essential visits to farms across Caithness.

He said that local farmers had been impressed with the playing after the insemination procedure.

Willie says the cattle too seem pleased to hear the tunes, in particular these young AI bred calves belonging to David Ross at Smerral, Latheronwheel.

The breeding technician and civic leader, known to many as AI Willie, said: "I'm amazed that the number of local and worldwide views on social media pages have now topped 85,500 and all my local cattle breeding customers have wanted more or less a live performance, so where better than in the byre or outdoor in the holding pens?"
