The entrance area within Thurso High School has been transformed into a sparkling festive wonderland thanks to receptionist Trish Sinclair, who put up all the decorations.

Local councillor Matthew Reiss, who took the photo, said: "I went in to Thurso High School last Friday morning after the general election and what a wonderful Christmas world greeted me.

"A big thank-you to Trish for bringing some Christmas cheer to pupils, staff and visitors alike. I’m sure the display gives everyone a little boost in the middle of these dark December days.”

Depute rector Craig Omand said: “Trish significantly adds to the school ethos through her themed decorating of reception at Christmas, remembrance week and charitable events. She also spearheaded the Caithness FM Christmas children’s gift appeal, encouraging the school community to donate gifts for less fortunate children. Well done Trish for spreading the Christmas spirit!”

Schools in the Highland Council area close this Friday for the festive break, returning on Monday, January 6.
