Trinkie history talk in Wick

Catherine Patterson, secretary of the Trinkie Heritage Preservation Group (THPG), is to give a talk to the Caithness Family History Society (CFHS) next Tuesday (June 11).

She will outline the history of how the natural rock pool became such an important leisure venue for generations of Wickers and why a wall was erected there in 1931.

Storm Babet in October 2023 caused major damage to the wall and THPG has been busy raising funds and submitting funding applications for the repairs. Catherine will also update us on the progress being made.

The free event will be held in the Nethercliffe Hotel, Louisburgh Street, Wick at 7pm on Tuesday, June 11. All are very welcome to attend the talk, which is followed by the opportunity to have a cuppa and a chat with committee members and others.

The society’s latest book, Ulbster Burial Ground, will be for sale, along with other CFHS publications.

The society can be contacted at enquiries@caithnessfhs.org.uk and has a website and Facebook page.
