The Trinkie Heritage Preservation Committee (THPC) says it is delighted to receive two special valve keys for the outdoor swimming pool at Wick courtesy of engineering staff and students in Thurso.
The engineering class at North Highland College UHI in Thurso was approached by the committee to construct a new key for the outdoor pool which is being refurbished.
UHI staff members, Liam Sutherland and Jamie Tait worked with the multi-disciplinary engineering apprentices to recreate two new lightweight keys to replace the original valve key which is "extremely heavy and cumbersome", said THPC secretary Cathy Patterson
"SSE apprentice Scott Thornburn took on the task and was delighted to learn new skills and get involved to help the community while supporting the Trinkie.
"The valve key is integral to the working of the Trinkie to regulate water levels and therefore anything that helps make maintenance easier is greatly appreciated. The committee is always looking for volunteers, fundraisers or business support to help with maintenance and repairs of this popular facility."
Cathy added that the volunteer committee want to say "a huge thankyou" to the North Highland College UHI for kindly donating the keys and to Scott for volunteering his skills and expertise.
