Trial to hear charges of serious attack in Thurso

Two men are alleged to have carried out a serious attack on a man, using a broken bottle or other implement to his severe injury, permanent impairment, and disfigurement, to the danger of his life.

Kevin Miller (41), of Henrietta Street, Wick, and 32-year-old Martin Gunn, of St John's House, Thurso, pleaded not guilty to the assault indictment at Wick Sheriff Court on Tuesday.

The pair are also accused of repeatedly punching Matthew Frere and seizing him by his neck, restricting his breathing and causing him to fall to the floor. The assault is said to have occurred at a house in Mayfield Road, Thurso, on May 7, 2022.

Miller and Gunn will be tried by a jury at Inverness on a date to be fixed.
