THE funeral of the lorry driver killed in an accident on the A9 blackspot at Berriedale Braes takes place today (Friday.)

Bruce Cormack died last Thursday on the switchback stretch of road while transporting fertiliser from Invergordon for WD Cormack and Sons, a family firm which he was a business partner in.

The road was closed for eight hours while emergency services carried out the recovery operation as traffic was diverted via the A897 Strath-Halladale road.

Mr Cormack (41), from Durran, near Castletown, is survived by his wife Lynn, son Scott and parents Sandy and Jane.

The funeral will take place within St Peter’s and St Andrew’s Church in Thurso at 1pm. Family flowers only have been requested but donations will be accepted on behalf of Castletown Community Playground Project.
