Tractor Addict’s epic challenge set to depart Caithness
A self-professed tractor addict is set to embark on an epic journey in a classic tractor from John O’Groats to Land’s End.
Trevor Hughes, a trained mechanic who hails from Askam-in-Furness in Cumbria and whose Tractor Addict YouTube channel has 1100 subscribers, aims to raise vital funds for Dementia UK and the St Mary’s Hospice when he begins his mammoth journey in a 1954 grey Ferguson tractor this Saturday.
The tractor, which has been ‘pimped up’ with an engine from a Land Rover Discovery, is expected to travel around 150 miles a day.
He said: “Join me, Trevor Hughes — better known as Tractor Trev the Tractor Addict — on an extraordinary adventure that combines my passion for tractors with a heartfelt mission to support charities!
“Follow my journey as I take my modified 1954 Grey Fergie tractor on an epic drive across the UK, traveling all the way from John O' Groats to Land's End.
“The reason I'm taking on this challenge is to give back to the charities that have provided incredible support to my family and friends over the past few years.”

He continued: “I plan to travel around 150 miles a day and we are also planning to stop at [Jeremy] Clarkson’s farm on the route.”
Trevor’s father Alan Hughes will be shadowing him in their temporary motorhome accommodation during the journey.
He said: “We welcome anyone who has family or friends who have lost anyone close to them to come along and sign the tractor in remembrance of their loved ones or just tractor lovers who would like to see a Grey Ferguson with a difference!
“We did a local tractor run last weekend organised by the Furness & District Tractor Run to give Trevor a good send-off and lots of people who had lost loved ones came out in support and to sign the tractor, also lots of parents with children to see the tractors.”
He added that the pair plan to be at the famous John O’Groats signpost with the tractor this Friday at around 7pm is anyone wants to see them before they set off this weekend.
