A HUGE equipment delivery for a Caithness firm may cause some disruption to roads around Wick today.

Subsea 7 is moving towheads for its BP Andrew contract through the town to its Wester site

The massive towheads arrived at the harbour last night and workers took advantage of the tides to unload them early from a barge, putting the delivery ahead of schedule.

The movement of the heavy equipment up Scalesburn and along Willowbank and Girnigoe Street has so far only caused minimal delays to motorists.

The largest towhead closed the road for around 20 minutes with police motorcyclists keeping traffic in check.

It took three heavy-lifting vehicles to move it up the steep incline at Scalesburn.
