A TOP professional surfer has been fined £500 at Wick Sheriff Court after admitting possession of a knife.

Charles Martin (21), from Guadeloupe, had been in Thurso for the O’Neill Coldwater Classic competition earlier this year.

The French national was arrested on April 18 in West Church Street, Thurso, when he handed police a cutlery knife, with a 11.5 centimetre serrated blade, that he had in his jacket pocket.
