A MAN has been banned from driving for a year after he was clocked driving at 109 mph in Caithness.

James Sutherland (31) of Keepers Cottages, The Lighthouse, Dunnet Head, pleaded guilty to driving almost double the speed limit on the A99 at Keiss on September 25.

Sheriff Andrew Berry disqualified Sutherland from driving for one year and fined him £150.

He will also have to pass an extended driving test before he will be eligible to receive his licence back.
