Titanic success for Thurso primary pupils

To conclude their project on the fated Titanic ship, P6 pupils at Pennyland Primary School in Thurso held a successful open afternoon event.

The Titanic sank after hitting an iceberg in 1912 and the project involved various secret missions to recreate the famous ship in the classroom through teamwork and cooperation. The final mission was to share what they had learned with their parents.

On arrival at the classroom door, the “passengers” were given name badges and using the information in the classroom, along with their child’s help, were to discover whether they had survived the tragic disaster or not.

All third class passengers were diverted to the Titanic nurse for medical inspection. Board games, floating and sinking experiments, Morse code messages and a ‘Who Wants to be a Millionaire’ quiz were all part of the open afternoon fun along with ‘champagne’ and nibbles.
